In simple terms, Edge Security is decentralised security that is used to protect users and apps at the farthest reaches, or “edge,” of a company's network. Edge Security is useful because, as the amount of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, mobile devices, and diverse network points increases, there are more security risks and issues at play.

Edge computing is seen as very useful where connectivity is unreliable, or bandwidth is restricted because of a site's environmental characteristics. Having suitable security measures can prevent further issues and problems within this often unsecured environment.
